Gloria Money After re-reading the Reader story "The Dollar Flows" which was about a peculiar influx of contributions from high-ranking employees of a missile defense contractor corporation Epsilon Systems Inc. and then combing through the Center for Policy Initiatives list of Gloria contributors, I was astounded to see the amount of money he took from this company. This company is not only profiting from the war building missiles, but is really pushing the Manchester Navy Broadway Complex as it is a HUGE contract for them. Obviously Todd has declared war against anything Manchester and anyone w/ money trying to push a Manchester agenda yet he took money from these guys along w/ Perry Dealy, President of Manchester. (here's 1 examp.CCDC minutes and CEO Dwayne Junker getting up to support the project. The CEO Dwayne Junker (great name) is the president of the San Diego Chapter of the National Defense Industrial Assn. Here it is copied right off CPI, money from Epsilon Systems: The owner, his wife, the CEO all gave $270. Then Dean Araujo VP of Fleet GM engineering gave $250, Robert A Norberg, Director of Contracts gave $150, .Jack Sears,Vice President, gave $100, Ralph Staples, VP Marketing and Strategic Planning gave $150 and, Alan Stewart, CFO gave $270 to the Gloria campaign. 2008
District 3 Bryan Min Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. Founder, President
& CEO High-Tech and Bio-Tech 270 270 2007-06-29 So 1st we have Todd taking money from a company that works in conjunction with Raytheon building missiles and missile technology and then we have him taking big money from the contractors that REALLY need the Manchester project to go through...because they are 1 in the same. Why are they placing ALL their bets on Todd Gloria for that???!!! From the Reader " That leads some to speculate that the Min mo ney is a way to curry favor with a key Congressional staffer. But Min may harbor other reasons to have a friendly would-be city councilman on his side. He and his Epsilon employees have also given to April Boling, the Republican running in the council's seventh district. He’s on the board of the San Diego Convention Center Corporation and has unsuccessfully sought appointment to the Board of Port Commissioners. In addition, Epsilon chief operating officer Dwayne Junker has expressed repeated support for the controversial Navy Broadway Complex being developed by downtown hotel mogul Doug Manchester on Navy land at the foot of Broadway, telling the Daily Transcript, “If this doesn’t work…it’s going to be a step backward in essence.” Other speculation has it that Epsilon wants to snag contracting work paid for by Homeland Security grants funneled through the city. Min and Dufresne could not be reached for comment."
